Health certificates are a legal requirement for all international travel. If you will be flying internationally with a pet, and you do not have the proper paperwork, you will not be able to board the aircraft.
Our veterinarians are accredited to provide Certificates of Veterinary Inspection for travel, and also provide helpful advice for traveling with pets. This certificate is essential for ensuring that the trip will be safe for your pet, other travelers, and the area which you are visiting or relocating. Different diseases and considerations are prevalent in different parts of the world, so this visit to the veterinarian should not be overlooked.
For your Certificate of Veterinary Inspection, we must be able to confirm that your pet is:
Before your visit, we recommend checking USDA travel regulations to prepare. Sometimes, laws and regulations for different pets change, so it's important to be current with the expectations. Also consider checking (if you are planning to fly) airline regulations in regards to their policies for pet travel. Some airlines require submitting your pet's health certificate at least ten days in advance. We don't want you to be surprised at the airport!
Being able to travel with your pet onboard is the best option, but if you do not have a small pet, this is understandably not feasible. In this case, make sure your pet is kept in a pressurized section of the cargo hold to protect them from extreme hot or cold temperatures, and try to book direct flights if possible to avoid further stress for your pet.
